On August 9, 2008, in the acts of celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Ebro, the Consorci Memorial dels Espais de la Batalla de l'Ebre (COMEBE) opened a new interpretation center in Vilalba dels Arcs about the conflict, in this case devoted to the life of the soldiers in the trenches, the key of the efficient republican defense system.

Called precisely 'Soldiers in the Trenches', the museum divides in two areas, the military task of the soldier and the personal life of the same soldier throughout the day. For explaining it, the interpretation center uses explanatory panels, a small exhibition of objects used by the soldiers, and the experiences narrated in video of several survivors, among other elements.

In the first area, the military task, it is explained the daily battle, the fight, the construction of the trenches and the net they created, especially the republican troops; and the importance of surveillance since among the combats they could spend hours or days.

The area of the personal life portrays how they ate, they drank, they slept and they smoked. Some of the outstanding aspects of the persons who struggled were the religion and the writing, this last was the only activity that allowed the soldiers to communicate with his loved persons.

The museum also offers a thorough explanation through an interactive screen of the Barrancs' trenches complex, located at few kilometers of the village of Vilalba dels Arcs.

The museum, a modest scenography in comparison to others of the same net, is located in the first floor of the municipal building Casal del Rossinyol. At present it’s closed to the public and only it can visit itself through telephonic reservation on the telephones 616 936 052 977.42.15.28.
