Located a few miles away from Gandesa on a hill overlooking the surroundings, appears the Franco monument of the Coll de Moro, a site where general Franco established his headquarters during the battle of the Ebro, between summer and autumn of 1938. In 1953, to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the battle, the Diputación de Tarragona erected a monolith in homage 'to leader of Spain'.
