Located a few miles away from Gandesa on a hill overlooking the surroundings, appears the Franco monument of the Coll de Moro, a site where general Franco established his headquarters during the battle of the Ebro, between summer and autumn of 1938. The general arrived to the Ebro frontline on July 30, 1938 and returned repeatedly until the withdrawal of the Republican troops on the left bank of the river Ebro ??

In 1953, to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the battle, the Diputación de Tarragona erected a monolith in homage 'to leader of Spain'. The celebration, held on September 2 under the chairmanship of the secretary general of the Movement, Raimundo Fernandez Cuesta, brought together nearly 3,000 people with outstanding presence of a thousand members of the Youth Front, youth organization of the Movement. ??

The monument has a height of 5 meters with the coat of Franco's Spain at the top. At the base of the monument was placed a plaque with the inscription. 'The province of Tarragona to the Caudillo of Spain, Francisco Franco Bahamonde. Generalissimo of the armies, who led from this place the great battle of the Ebro September 2, 1938 - September 2, 1953.". Also included the coat of Diputació deTarragona and an emblem of fascist movement with the yoke and arrows. The chronicle told that the environment did not change and that, therefore, were still visible machine-gun nest, the remains of which are still exist. ??

57 years after the opening, maintenance of historical space is non-existent. The area is dirty and full of garbage. In addition, dozens of paintings of all kinds cover the monument. ??

Despite the degradation of the monument, its immediate surroundings, especially the overview of the various sides of the Republican defensive front during the Battle of Ebro, remains in very good condition. The Pàndols and Cavalls mountains remain unchanged while the La Fatarella montains, unfortunately, is being covered by wind turbines, which significantly distorts the field of battle. ??

Access to Coll de Moro have also been modified. The old and winding N-420 road section which amounts to the hill still exists but is hardly used after the construction of a variant that travels a short distance from the historic space. In this variant, located on the stretch of the N-420 between Gandesa and the intersection with the C221 road in Batea, borns an old access road to Coll de Moro. Since this road is accessed through a asphalt track.
