The municipality of Batea (Terra Alta), which during the battle of the Ebro remained always into Franco domain area, takes in one of the performance centres built for the public network of the Consorci Memorial dels Espais de la Batalla de l’Ebre (Comebe).

The ‘Hospitals of Blood' museum is dedicated to the medical care and hospitable to the combatants.??The performance centre is dedicated to different aspects related to the military health, hospitals of campaign and the medical techniques developed during the civil war, bringing closer to the visitors one of the aspects more bloody of a confrontation: the human cost of the war.??The museum space appears of five different fields and two scenographies.

In these spaces is shown as the assistance was structured to the wounded and the health network that was created around the Battle of Ebro. Additionally it explain the several transport systems utilised, the mobilisation of the health staff and the adjustment of the systems to the reality of the conflict.??

To broadcast the health improvisation and innovation, the visitor can observe some scenographies, such as a hospital of campaign or a train hospital.??

The museum opened its doors the July 2008 with the assistance of the International Brigades' practitioner, the doctor Moisès Broggi and ex republican veteran Mariano Garcia Iniesta, star of one of the audiovisual ones of the permanent exhibition.??‘Hospitals of Blood' is located at the Major street, 27, to the centre of Batea.
