Victims of Franco Regime requires Spanish Government to investigate more than 130,000 disappeared according to the UN mandate

War Diary/Diari de Guerra.- 16/11/2013.- The spanish platform for Truth Commission, consisting of more than one hundred organizations in memory of family members and victims of the Franco Regime around the Spanish State, celebrates that the resolution of the UN Committee on enforced Disappearances has admitted the allegations of the victims of Franco Regime, and supports their demands for truth, justice and reparation.

The UN committee report denounces, as it has done the working group on disappearances , that Spanish government violates obligation to investigate the fate of over 130,000 forced disappearances that still remain unclear in Spain, as well as cases of tens of thousands and stolen children and the 2.500 mass graves unexhumed.

The resolution, platform said, is also a new setback for Spanish justice and Supreme Court who have repeatedly refused to give legal aid to Franco Regime victims in investigating disappearances and exhumation of mass graves. In that sense, add, it is important that UN reiterates that crimes against humanity committed by Franco Regime in Spain 'do not prescribe or can be amnestied '.

The spanish platform for the Truth Commission 'will require' Spanish government that meet recommendations of UN and, immediately, get a democratic, humanitarian and final response for the demand of truth, justice and reparation of Franco victims according to United Nations mandate.
