Diari de Guerra.-12/09/2013.- The Raval Theatre in Barcelona launches on September 26 a musical called 'Goodbye Barcelona', in calalan, inspired by the real life of the British volunteers, men and women who decided to join the International Brigades to fight fascism in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939).
The musical tells the story of Sam, a young Englishman of 18, who in 1936 leaves London and goes to Spain to join the Brigades. Rebecca, his mother, will follow. The story tells of ordinary people and the time they decide to act.
It consists of a cast of nine actors and three musicians, and the music is composed of a combination of styles, including Spanish music and traditional marching songs
The musical was conceived for six years, from 2005-2011, with the invaluable help of the Arts Council of England, the International Brigade Memorial Trust, and the Arcola Theatre London theater where he was represented with great critical and public for 5 weeks (November-December 2011) to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War, and the creation of the International Brigades.
The musical will premiere on September 26 at 21.30. There will be performances on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 21.30 and Sundays at 18.30. On 5/10, 19/10 and 08/11 will not function. The duration is 120 minutes and the ticket price is 22 euros.
